Edgeways 2.Ten years on.The bugs are back..But there`s a new Droid on
the Block...Fuzzy Logic ! !
When I`d written the original Weird In Edgeways,a lot of people found it
a little too difficuilt.Fuzzy is(hopefully) the remedy.
It`s basically the same plot,but much more `Arcade Like`.
As I said,the story is the same.The Bugs have invaded the mighty Edgeways
computer again.You must control FUZZY LOGIC and clear the system of bugs.
As in the first game,the Bugs have wreaked havoc and loosened the screws of
the circuit board.Your task is to tighten down the screws and destroy the
bugs.
Getting around the Board.The playing area is a huge circuit board.To move
Fuzzy use left/right/up.Pressing up will make your Fuzzy jump,but he
will only jump to the next ledge if a hole is above him.Don`t jump too
early,or you will land on the same hole and fall back through.
If you fall down a hole,Fuzzy will be stunned for a few moments.
While he is stunned (seeing stars) he can`t fall through other holes,but
he is`nt stunned for long,so get ready.At the end of each ledge is a
glowing block with a hole.Don`t go onto this or you will fall through.
If Fuzzy should touch a Bug,he will be returned to the Start
position(Bottom left),but you won`t lose a life.
1: Tightening the screws.
There are 3 screws which need screwing down.Unlike the first game,once a
screw is down it stays down (Bugs cannot loosen it again).However,you
first need to pick up the spanner.Once you have this (indicated top right)
you simply touch the appropriate screw.The `Next Screw` indicator (to the
right of the circuit board) will then move to show the vertical position
of the next screw which needs attention.When the screw is fixed the `Next`
indicator will turn to a thumbs up symbol to show it`s fixed.
Beware of `Glitch` when you have your spanner.The Glitch is an orange fuzz-
ball who roams the board.He is relatively harmless except that if he touches
your Droid,and you have the spanner,he will force you to drop the spanner.
The Spanner will then drop a level and will be magnetised (glowing).
While magnetised the Spanner is subsceptible to holes.(If it`s glowing,
and a hole touches it,it wall fall another level).If it drops off the bottom
of the board or falls anywhere else but a ledge,it will re-appear again
further up the board.The glitch also falls down holes,but does`nt need
ledges(he can float).If the Glitch should fall off the bottom of the board,he
will appear at the top of the board.If you drop your resistor on the Glitch
(see Item 3 below) he will also drop another ledge,but you can`t destroy him.(And you thought Weird in Edgeways 1 was complex !)
2: Icons.
The Icon indicators at Top Right represent (from top to bottom)
Spanner (Shows Spanner symbol if you possess it,(!) if you don`t.
Screw Status.No of screws left to tighten.(Thumbs up if all 3 finished)
Bugs Status.No of Bugs too kill (as above)
Music Status.Music On/Off(Press `M` to toggle music on/off.
At the top & Bottom Right of the board are the level indicator L.E.D`s
In the Middle Right of the board is another L.E.D with a Fuzzy symbol next to
it.This is your current No Of Lives left.At the far left of the top screen
is a countdown.When this reaches zero,the cicuits will glow,the bugs will
speed up and a static charge is released from bottom left.The static will
make its way up the
board,and if it hits Fuzzy,you lose a life.When the Static reaches
top left,it will start its course once again from bottom left.
3.Destroying Bugs.
To clear the system of Bugs,you will need an ingenious way of wiping out the bugs.
Well,there is one !.
Fuzzy Logic is equipped with a Bug-Stun Resistor.To use this you must
position yourself above a bug.Make sure that the bug is directly below you,
and that the Bug is NOT Moving.
Press Fire to release the Resistor,and if it smacks the Bug on the bonce,
he will be stunned for a short time.An L.E.D counter will appear next to
the bug to show how long before he recovers.To finish the bug off you must fall
through a hole ONTO the stunned bug.If you succeed,he will be thrown off
the circuit board.If a hole does`nt come along,and the counter reaches zero,
the bug will recover and move on.As mentioned earlier,you can also drop the
resistor on the Glitch to remove him from a ledge.
*** To complete a level you must tighten the 3 screws down and clear ***
*** the board of all Bugs (you can do these tasks in any order you want) ***
The best method is to learn the way the holes move on each level.
Note: You can walk to the extreme LEFT of the circuit board without falling
off.You are automatically stopped at the edge.Also note that you can
out-jump certain holes,too.Move as far as you can to the end of the ledge
and as the hole is about to touch,jump.This is vital to learn on some of the
levels,as some holes appear frequently on the bottom ledge(and there`s
no ledge below to save you).
There are TEN levels in all.Each level is played twice,once with 2 Bugs then
with 3.eg When you complete Level 0 you will then play the Level 1,which is
basically level 0,but with THREE bugs.Level 2 has a different playing area with
2 Bugs,and level 3 is the same but with 3 Bugs.Basically,the playing area
changes every 2 levels.Be warned,the later levels are Tough !
